  • Can I swim anywhere around the resort?
    Joy island is blessed with a beautiful lagoon and amazing coral gardens around. While swimming in the lagoon is generally safe, we recommend avoiding it in adverse weather conditions like strong winds and rough seas. In an unlikely case, our main pool is the best place to swim.
  • How far is the house reef from Joy Island?
    Joy Island has a beautiful house reef which is easily accessible from the sunrise side of the island, near beach villas and lagoon villas.
  • Photography and Drone footage?
    Due to privacy concerns, Cocoon prohibits the operation of unmanned aerial systems or drones. We kindly ask guests to refrain from flying drones anywhere on the island. For drone shootings please contact Guest Relations. Photography is allowed for personal use.
  • Do you have a medical facility on the island?
    We do have a clinic on the island along with an inhouse doctor and a nurse.
  • Where is Maldives?
    The Maldives is a group of 1200 coral islands that are located in the Indian Ocean to the South and South-West of India and Sri Lanka, respectively. It is about 4 hours flying time from Singapore on the east and 5 hours flying time from the gulf on the west.
  • How do I get to the Maldives?
    The best way to travel to the Maldives is by Air Travel. A number of flights both scheduled and charter operate to the Maldives.
  • Do I need a Visa to enter Maldives?
    No, you do not need a Visa prior to entering the Maldives. All travelers are given a 30-day Visa upon arrival. To receive this, each traveler must present a passport (valid for at least 6 months), and a valid return air ticket to a destination where the passenger has permission to enter together with any visa required for that destination.
  • What is the weather like in Maldives?
    Being located on the equator, the Maldives has a hot tropical climate, with plenty of sunshine and a high level of humidity. Temperatures range from 24°C to 30°C. The country encounters two monsoons: the northeast monsoon starts from November to April, bringing dry and sunny conditions, whereas the southwest monsoon starts from May to October, marking the rainy season. Despite the monsoon, it's noteworthy that the Maldives can still enjoy a substantial number of sunny days even during the traditionally rainy period.
  • What is the best time to visit Maldives?
    The Maldives Islands are lovely all year round but peak season tends to be during November to April when there are clear skies and it is dry. The visibility for diving is also high during this period. However, for surfers it is the opposite, since the south west monsoon brings in the best waves, with the largest waves occurring in July and August.
  • Does the resort have an airport counter?
    The airport counter of Joy Island,C14 is located in Arrival Hall. If you are arriving by an International Flight, our Airport Representative will be on standby at the Arrivals Hall Gate holding a signage board of “Joy Island”, to guide you through the Airport and to the Seaplane Terminal.
  • What is the standard mode of Airport transfer to Joy Island?
    Joy Island organizes transfer by Speedboat.
  • Is there a waiting time for the transfers to the resort?
    Speedboat transfers are usually arranged by the schedule of the flights. We usually follow at least 30 -45 mins waiting time at the airport.
  • Will I get the same benefits as mentioned on the website offers and packages, if I book directly with the resort?

  • What is the payment and cancellation policy of the resort?
    Pre-payment is required in order to guarantee reservations. How far ahead the payment is required and can cancel the reservation without penalty depends on your stay dates and the rates which you have booked.
  • How do I pay for my reservation?
    Once your reservation is complete, the reservations team will send a secured online payment link through which you can settle the payment via your credit card. Alternatively, we do accept bank transfers as well.
  • What are the payment methods while on the island?
    Credit card/Debit Card payment as well as Cash payments are accepted on the island. As for credit cards we accept American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Farmlands/CRT, JCB, Union Pay, and Visa. Kindly be aware that a 3% surcharge applies when making payments via credit card. However, please note that third-party or company cheaques, as well as company credit cards, are not accepted as forms of payment without prior clearance. For Cash payments, US Dollar, Sterling Pounds, Euros, Australian Dollars, Swiss Francs & Singaporean Dollars are accepted.

  • Is it possible to accommodate 2 Children in a One Bedroom Villa?
    We can accommodate two children or one child and one infant in addition to two Adults in a One Bedroom Villa. We can provide One roll-away bed and One Sofa bed or either One roll-away bed and One Baby cot in the villa. Extra person accommodation supplements apply.
  • How much do you charge for an extra child?
    Should the villa occupancy allows to accommodate the children in the villa, children who are 15.99years old and below will be able to stay on a complimentary basis and are only charged a green tax of USD 6 per child per night.
  • Can the Sofa in the Villa be converted to a Bed?
    We can convert the Sofa in the villa to a Sofa bed.
  • Is it possible to arrange two villas next to each other?
    If the booking is made in advance we can certainly arrange two or more villas next to each other.
  • Can you confirm a certain room number or location?
    A request can be made once the reservation is confirmed. We shall do our utmost to accommodate the request as per availability.
  • Which Villas/ Suites are the most private?
    While all of our villas offer a high degree of privacy, our Water Pool Villa options offer the highest degree of privacy as these villas are located further out in the lagoon.
  • Do we have a dedicated butler if we book Joy Beach Residence and Joy Lagoon Residence?
    Yes, you will have a dedicated (butler) if you have booked the highest accommodation offering.
  • Do you provide a laundry service?
    Yes, we do. In general, laundry service is available throughout your stay. Please place your laundry into the bag provided in your room together with the completed form and your room attendant will collect it. For an express service, kindly dial housekeeping or alternatively inform your villa host.

    Children below 12 years can dine for free from the Kids buffet or kids menu in all restaurants operated by Joy Island, except for In-Villa Dining. Children who wish to order from the standard a la carte menu will receive a 50% discount on the food order.

    We follow a resort-casual dress or island chic code for all of our restaurants. Swimwear is discouraged at our restaurants.
  • Can we arrange a Private Dinner?
    We can arrange Private Dinners on different picturesque locations and with beautiful setups on the island.
  • Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
    Yes, we do. On arrival, please discuss any dietary requirements or allergies you may have with our villa hosts. Our chefs can then prepare a menu based on your requirements.
  • Do you have a kid’s club?
    We have a very well equipped Children’s creative and fun facility- Kiddie Clove offering a range of outdoor and indoor activities.
  • What age is allowed in the kid’s club?
    The Club accepts ages starting from age of 3 and 11 Years. Kids below the age of 03 Years will be allowed to Kids club with assistance of a parent or a babysitter. Babysitting Service is available at the resort and can be booked in advance.
  • Babysitting
    Babysitting Service would be available for charged at USD25 per hour per child (These prices are inclusive of all taxes and is subject to change without any prior notice). Babysitter will be required to be booked for children 2 years and below and optional for 3 years and above. Children between 3 and 12 years are welcome for the Kid’s Club without Guardian. Babysitting service is available upon request basis subject to availability on arrival.
  • Do we have to book the spa in advance?
    It is recommended to book Oasis SPA treatments a week in advance in order to guarantee the preferred timing.

    We have a very well equipped gym located at the spa.

    We do have Male therapists at COCOON Spa.

    We do have both non-motorized as well as motorized Water Sports activities available.
  • Are there good diving spots near Joy Island?
    Located in North Male’ Atoll in the midst of well-known world-class dive sites.
  • Do you have Excursions boat trips?
    We do have different types of fishing, snorkeling excursions as well as cruises and experiences available.
  • Do we have to pre-book Watersports, Scuba Diving and Excursions?
    We recommend to book Excursions a week prior to the arrival date in order to ensure availability. For Scuba diving, your in-person presence is required during the booking process, hence, this can be done upon arrival. As for the watersports no pre-booking is required and will be subject to equipment availability.
  • What are the special occasional and event offers at Joy Island?
    Guests celebrating a birthday or anniversary on the island will receive a cake per stay. Repeater guests will receive a fruit basket on arrival per stay Honeymoon Guests All Honeymooners for a minimum 4 nights stay will receive a bottle of wine, chocolate with special turndown service per room per stay and a Romantic Candle lit dinner for two persons.
